Hello my name is Becky Haaser, I have been a dog trainer for 15+ years, I train dogs because I love it and it's a passion of mine. I am always researching & learning new methods.
Growing up in the country, I spent a lot of time with my animals. After challenges with my dog Duke I realized my desire for dog training.
One day, Becky and her husband went to look at a litter of puppies, and naturally, they picked out the
cutest one. He had nice markings and was the biggest of the litter, which is all you need to look for,
right?! What they failed to notice as they observed the rest of the litter is that the puppy they had their
eye on wanted nothing to do with either of them! He was off in a different room nosing around under
the couch and behind the chair. When Becky and her husband carried the litter of pups back to their
kennel, all of the pups went to sleep, except the one they wanted (Duke); He sat and stared at Becky. If
Becky moved, he would turn his head and follow—Becky knew for sure that he was the one they were
supposed to pick! Two weeks later they went to pick up this cute little puppy to bring him to his new
home. Duke was very smart, but turned out to be extremely stubborn and strong-willed, wanting
nothing to do with either of them. He did not like to be touched and would not follow Becky. He was
always off doing his own thing. Becky tried everything she could think of to provide training for Duke
including taking him to puppy kindergarten (where he was kicked out) and to obedience classes (where
the instructor wrote him off). She tried a few other trainers only to have them all give up on Duke. Becky
researched by reading book after book (there was no Internet back then) and she talked to all types of
k9 trainers across the country to figure out how to teach this cute, little, challenging puppy how to have
manners. Becky learned a lot from Duke and is grateful that she chose the cute, little puppy that caught
her eye and said “pick me” all those years ago, because he changed her world and fulfilled her unknown
passion to be a dog trainer. Duke lived 15 ½ years and Becky cherishes every moment and everything
Duke taught her.
